| This maybe a stupid question
Ok I just purchased a notebook computer. When I get this notebook computer I have a hard drive from my old pc that died with all my information on it. Its a IDE drive. I want to know how to transfer the information from that drive to my new notebook. But seing as I dont have a pc running that other HD how can I transfer. Hopefully this question makes sence.

Is there a way you could put your hard drive in a friends machine and network your notebook to his (LAN,direct cable)?

If you know anyone with an external usb device tower, you could put HD in that and connect to notebook ! |

you CAN do it, but you'll have to spend some money. you can get external hd bays for notebooks that connect via usb or firewire, you might look into buying one of those. as for straight connecting it, its not possible. |

Besides you can use it in the future to have a portable HD in case you have to use another laptop for any reason. |

You don't need an external box! I use one of these. It is one of the best things ever invented. Go to: cyberguys.com and type in item number "131 0855" without the quotes.
It converts any IDE device and makes it USB without the need for an external drive box.
I love mine....
