| Computer back up and running, but
I finally got my computer back up and running but I am having some small problems now.
1. It will only load to windows on 100 FSB not 133 FSB. I have the Gigabyte 7VRXP motherboard and it has an onboard FSB control and you can do it in the BIOS. I have tried switching them both on, but no luck. Does anyone know why this is happening?
2. The USB ports are not recognizing my keyboard, any ideas on that one?
Thanks in advance,
Mat |

I'm not sure what to tell you one the memory, but have you gone into the bios and set it to assign an IRQ for the keyboard, for the usb. Maybe windows can assign a fake on by unplugging it, and plugging it back in. Of coarse use safe removal first. You can do that since keyboards are hot swappable. If not revert back to ps/2.

ok as far as the 133 bus speed alot factors could be stopping but i'll start w/ the most common.. incorrect RAM type if you're wanting to run at a 133 bus you must have atleast PC133 RAM more on.. the voltage for ram or cpu the majority of the time it's set to 1.75 for amd's cpu's and this can be bumped up w/ a mod to the proc and can be taken even higher w/ a mainboard mod.. ram voltage.. i believe 3.3v is the standard although i could be mistaken or maybe that's the correct setting for 133 sorry it's been a while since i've looked at voltage settings.. another thing could be your power supply i highly recommend a 350watt or higher power supply.. next up could be some of your devices.. such as ethernet cards, modems, etc.. some are finikey to bus speeds.. next up.. your keyboard problem.. go into the bios and check to see if USB keyboard is enabled.. 99.9% it's disabled by default just enable it to fix the problem.. if you still have problems w/ it not detecting check for bios updates from gigabytes website... hope this helps ya

USB KEYBOARD will not be reconized in any spot except windows 95B or greater O/S or a O/S that can use USB. DOS and BIOS area (boot up areas) will not see it period.

There is a little swithc on the mobo.. put it to OFF to allow 133 fsb then change your memory to 133 (if you are running 133 memory (or 266 ddr)
Do NOT change it manually cuz you will be overclocking it LOL

I have tried flipping the switch on the motherboard to off and it doesnt boot up still. I am running 512MB PC2700 DDR Ram in my computer. I also have a 400Watt power source, so that is plenty of power. |

ok quick question.. what speed proc do you have?..
Addon:
reason i ask is because of the mulitiplier setting.. if you have a 1.2ghz proc you'll want to run it at 12x @100mhz or 9x @133mhz
to acheive the correct setting w/out overclocking the chip.. the other alternative is having it set it automatically.. here's the settings..
------------------------------------ Ratio/Mulitiplier: 1 2 3 4 5
Auto: X X X X O
9x: O O X X X
12x: O X O O X
------------------------------------
hope this helps..

ok.. the 2100+ is a 1.7GHz+ chip so setting the multi to 9x would underclock the chips which is something you really don't want to do... it's kinda like having a ferrari w/ a fiat engine.. no point.. leave the settings to auto on the multi.. in the bios if you have it set to high performance or something of that nature change it to default values.. memory timings have a big effect on stability.. if you have the fsb set to 133 and the mem timings set to 2T you're probably gonna have some problems.. try them w/ default timings and set the board to boot at 133 bus |
