Packard Bell Video???

Alright I have here in front of me a Packard Bell. Its a newer one, celeron 466 or so with built in video. Well I can't the video to work. I tried adding a video card to all three of the PCI slots and still nothing. Monitor light stays orange. There are no beeps though, accept for the one beep to signal all is good. I have no idea what could be wrong with it, as far as I know it worked before. Like I said I have it right here in front of me so if anyone has any where I can get some info about it. I would be very grateful.

Hmmm I never thought about that .. I use this monitor all the time to test system. Ah what the heck I will try a different one, but I don't think thats the problem.

Edit: Tried a new monitor, nothing.

Anything in the BIOS that might give you an option as to which video system (onboard or slot) it's looking for, or possibly an allocation of system RAM to the video system?

Reset CMOS? If that doesn't work then I'm not sure what's going on... especially if the computer's giving you the all clear beep.

I tried reseting the CMOS. Nothing, I did some searching on the net, I am gonna give up. Its sucks too cause I wanted to use this machine for a router, oh well, I will have to find something else.

the problem is the on-board video chip has failed. this results in a non-working mobo. Because the bios cannot detect the onboard chip (it looks there first no matter if a pci video card is installed) and cant find anything so it just sets there and the cursor blinks.

there is no cure except replace the mobo.

well actually thats not really an option either. If Packerd bells are as bad as I remember them they are worse in propritory parts then HP, Compaq, and a toaster put together! The mobo's fit only that case, and really your only options if it truely is fried is to scrap the parts, and build a new computer (the CPU, ram, HD, floppy, moniter, speakers, keyboard, mouse, cd-rom, and anything else that is normal will be able to be used in the new PC). Your other option is to try to find someone with the exact same computer! This is hard as Packerd Bell changed computer configs around weekly. They would buy whatever was cheapest that week.
