    Video Card Problem

    Hi Folks
Doing up an old clunker for my neices.
    It's a P150, 32M and Win98.
Had a 2M Trident video card [works fine, just slow]
    Thinks me. Can do better.

So puts in my Savage 4 32M pci vidcard.
[works fine in my Duron 700, also worked fine in my old K6/2 300]
No go. No display at power on.

    Tried different slots. Different monitors.
Tried removing s/card and modem and then different slots.
    What gives?

Wondered whether the mobo wont support it?
It's an Award bios [may need to post back the version]

    Any ideas?
    Ta, R.

Is the Trident an ISA card? Maybe there's a setting in the BIOS? Dunno, reaching for straws here...
There are only 10 types of people that understand binary.....

Dunno, Rusty. Some old mobos haqve problems with some PCI devices, depending on the chipset. Can you give us details on the mobo as well?

Might be a BIOS upgrade somewhere for the mobo you could flash to get the Savage to work, hopefully.

    Cheers
    Mick

edit: just thought - a 32MB vid card. May be the RAM on the vid card conflicts with the mobo RAM. Most early socket 7 mobos would have limits on RAM allocation, so this vid card may be just too big! I have only used 8MB vid cards in old socket 7 boards, never tried a 32MB one (only have an AGP one anyway ). Might be an issue.

P150 boards were limited to 8 meg video card.

Get 2 32 meg strips of simm EDO memory and load win 98se and the P150 will perform as well as a 233.

there are no bios upgrades for the older mobo's that will allow 32 meg video card to work.
Senator I have no recolletion of that
