Scroll down 'til you see the "Download Now" button. Otherwise it will try to do the online update.
It's about 15MB.
EDIT - I'm getting ready to check if it has the "phone home" feature in the EULA.
EDIT,EDIT - Nothing in the EULA stating that this SP will try to "phone home" and tell Bill what you've got.
FINAL EDIT - After installing, I checked, and my Automatic Update was still disabled in the Services. I'm guessing since XP already has the Auto Update, shoving it down your throat, that they didn't need to include it with this SP. I'd 2X check to make sure either way.

Upgrading to SP2 works fine.. Slipstreaming SP2 fails! The whole slipstream process works fine until you install it.. It now wants an Activation Code.. Argh!!! Anyone know a fix yet? BillyBoy said this would happen with WinXP SP, but I don't think anybody thought Office too.. Like OfficeXP is really worth the several hundred they want for it.. shesh! |

I just installed my slipstreamed version over top of my non-slipstreamed version. So since I already activated it once I don't have to do it again. Also... Are you using Ofice XP Pro. I'm using Pro with Frontpage.
BTW. The Administrative Version of SP2 is 49Mb in size.
The problem I ran into is with SP2 slipstreamed it is now over 900Mb in size. Definatly to much to overburn on a CD-R.. I think I may have found the problem there too.. Not quite sure yet
though.
<edit> EvilRicks Link is to the Client version.

SP2 does not work if Office Xp is installed from a prerelease (leaked) version of the CD.
See this page for more information: < http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;Q315152>
The version number of the English Office XP with Frontpage should be:
10.0.2627.01 (and not 10.0.2627.0)
To determine whether your version of Office XP is an unreleased version, follow these steps to view the ProductVersion property of the Setup.ini file:
1. Using Windows Explorer, browse to your CD-ROM drive.
2. Insert your Office XP CD-ROM, and then locate the following folder on the CD:
3. drive\Files\Setup
4. Right-click the Setup.ini file, and then click Open to view the contents in Notepad.
5. Look for the section named "[Product]" and the line that begins with "ProductVersion". |

The version number of the English Office XP with Frontpage should be:
10.0.2627.01 (and not 10.0.2627.0) | Ok... Now if I had 10.0.2627.0 instead of 10.0.2627.01.. Are you saying I could not slipstream SP2 into Office XP with Frontpage if I have it installed on my computer or are you saying that I simply can not slipstream SP2 with version 10.0.2627.0 at all? Is it possible to simply fix the numbers in setup.ini? |
