An annoyance: Win XP shuts down, but does not turn offf

I am sure you all remember the old days of the AT power supplies and when you shut down an Win 95 machine it would give a screen saying "It is now safe to turn off your computer" Ok that is a bit weird seeing as I am using a 400w ATX power supply. Why won't Win XP just turn off the computer?

Thanks GZ, but I am lacking the AMP tab on my power options. Guess I will see if I need to install the component.

I would look at the power management in your BIOS. Do you have ACPI enabled?

Also look for software conflicts, particularly Easy CD Creator which has not been updated for XP.

You mean Nero hasn't buried EZCD yet? I thought EZCD was extinct by now...
