| An annoyance: Win XP shuts down, but does not turn offf
I am sure you all remember the old days of the AT power supplies and when you shut down an Win 95 machine it would give a screen saying "It is now safe to turn off your computer" Ok that is a bit weird seeing as I am using a 400w ATX power supply. Why won't Win XP just turn off the computer?

Thanks GZ, but I am lacking the AMP tab on my power options. Guess I will see if I need to install the component.

I would look at the power management in your BIOS. Do you have ACPI enabled?

Also look for software conflicts, particularly Easy CD Creator which has not been updated for XP. | |
