yes I know, this question is prolly simple, but this is my first experience with IDE chains.
I have a Mo-Bo with 2 IDE sockets and a Floppy socket. I have 1 HDD hooked up to the primary IDE socket and a CD-ROM drive on the second. I just got a FREE CD-RW ( www.spoofee.com) and tried to install it.
Now, when I have both of the CD drives hooked up via the 2 sockets on the IDE cable Windows sees what looks like one drive but when it is double clicked both drives go active and the explorer freezes. But each drive hooked up seprately works.....
Keep in mind i have no experience with this = / all my other CD-RWs are external, heh. |

1. Are you seeing both the CDROM and CDRW drive at system boot up on the post screen?
2. Do you have one drive set as Master and the other as Slave?
3. Have you tried vice versa for the setting on the CDROM drive and CDRW drive? switching the Master/Slave Mode?

mmmm there we go, heh.
I didn't know this but the CD-ROM drive i took from an older computer was also set as slave, so i just changed the jumper on that one to Master and BOOM it works.
Thanks for reminding me = P. |

Hehe, it's always the simple things that get me too. Like "is it plugged in?" or "is the switch turned on?" |
