Dial up causes the comp to lag for some odd reason. Ask M$ about it, cuz I don't have a clue why. I don't think there's a way around it.

-edit- Besides getting cable that is

If its a winmodem its more likely to skip because the modem is a soft modem, which means it uses the main CPU to do its work.. while a hardware modem has its own and doesn't bother the CPU at all.

Just a hint, it won't lag regular CD playback, since the audio goes through a seprate cable directly to the sound card.

This is also good advice if you want to listen to music while running games, high powered apps like photoshop or Virtual Dub, or want to keep your UD score up.

BTW, Vass, my hard modem did this and so did every other modem I have ever dialed up on.

yeah, i realized the cd payer thing already, it was a troubleshooting step i took to see if it was the sound card, and it is not a winmodem, although the manufacturer's name escapes me now
