| dial-up adapter disappeared
Hi there. Perhaps this is a newbie question, seeing that I'm new here. Anyways, I just installed an ATI TV tuner card and since then, my dial-up network adapter has been missing in device mgr. . I can't establish a connection with my ISP (juno), even though the modem seems to be working properly. What's more, I can't seem to re install the adapter, since it doesn't even appear to be an option in the add new hardware procedure. Any ideas?
Oh, yeah....I'm running a P4 1600 on an ASUS P4S333 board, 512 Mb PC2100 RAM, etc. |

In control panel---go to add remove programmes---windows set up tab---highlight comunications---click on details----put a check mark in "Dial-up networking"---follow prompts from there. You may have to remove the check mark in comunications first before adding it in. You will need .cab files or your windows disk. |

Thanks for the welcome. Actually, that's something I forgot to mention. In the Widows tab, there doesn't seem to be any "communications" option to highlight. Seriously. It just seems to be missing stuff like that. The network folder in control panel is empty too. no wizard, no nothing. |

Well, it's quitting time, So seeing that I can't connect at home, I probably won't be able to check up on this any more until Monday. Timing is EVERYTHING! I look forward to seeing if anybody comes up with anything over the weekend. Of course, I'll be trying to fix it on my own until then. Thanks for helping! |

Disregard the above--it was for win 9x.
I dont think with xp you can remove and reinstall the dialup adapter. I have never used xp or juno, but I think juno uses their own dialer. Have you tried removing juno and reinstalling it? |

Yeah, I tried that, and a bunch of other things, and nothing worked. Then, a day later, I came back and everything is working fine again. (There's still no dial-up adapter in device mgr, though.) Oh, well. It's working for now, so I guess we'll consider this one closed. Thanks for trying anyway, flashingcursor. |
