win xp pro multiple user problem
ok ive noticed in windows xp professional that when i change users(only two) ie takes forever to connect or wont connect at all.
if i log out of one user and switch to another it sometimes works but most times i have to restart to effectively connect on a different user.

What connection (web or LAN or both) and how is it set up (connect to what - another XP or 98 PC or what)?
More info and we may be able to help a bit.
Cheers

So it's just restarting windows, not connecting... or does it hang on "connecting to network" whilst restarting...?
'Cause if it does it would be because you don't have the "other" users as permissions to share your shares on other PC's on the LAN, so windoze XP is having a hard time working out what to do!
Or is it something different??

Ok, do you mean fast user switching: Where it keeps the one user logged in and programs running, while you're on a different user?
Or just regular Log off and log in as a different user?
If it's fast user switching, let's say there are two users named "Jim" and "Bob".
You are logged into Jim and instead of regularly logging off of Jim you switch user to Bob. If you left IE windows open on"Jim" then that might effect the speed of IE in "Bob".
But, details are important, so the more details the better.
We'll help if we can!!

I think I'm getting it now.

You mean when you switch users, then try to access the internet connection, it's really slow?
Do you have a dialup connection, DSL or cable?
It may be whatever process you use to connect to the internet is already connected, and windoze wants to try to connect again for some reason.
More details, please.
Thanks

Ok, so camcast cable uses an external USB modem or an ethernet modem? If it has a some kind of networking connection,
maybe that's the problem. One user has the permissions to run this connection, not the others. So it takes a while.
That's just a guess, as I don't use multiple users in XP. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable about XP users can help you.
