| NTLDR missing
Ok I haven't done anything and for some reason when I boot I get an error "NTLDR is missing Press Ctl+Alt+Del to restart" and it won't boot. I have tried safe mode but I can't even get to the boot screen just the error. I tried a fix I found on this site: http://www.mach-linux.org/discuss/messages/255.html
How do I copy the file to the HD from the command prompt?
Any other ideas? |

What OS? NT,2K,XP?
Sounds like you need to do a "Recovery Console" and do the "FIXBOOT".
Unless of course you have a floppy in the drive. |

"fdisk /mbr" might do the trick, if the problem is in the master boot record. |

I think I told you wrong. I think you might actually want "FIXMBR". I get 'em confussed sometimes.
"FDISK/MBR" is only going to work if you're using a 9X machine. |

Rick: fdisk /mbr works in 2k/XP also.....altough it wont do much for a corrupted or deleted ntldr. |

I am still getting the same error
It did say that my boot record was corrupted but obviously I am still missing NTLDR. |

basically what this means is that windows can't find the bootloader in the MBR. why, i don't know unless you have a floppy disk in the drive (you don't...do you?). i'd recommend throwing your windows disk in and do a repair. the automatic repair should be able to fix the MBR without too much trouble. |
