Problem using Ghost 6.0

Hi: Here's the deal. Master drive 20 gig with about 3.4 used.
Slave just formatted 15 gig. OS Win 98SE. I want to make an exact copy on the 15 gig slave but Ghost tells me that the destination drive is too small. Both drives have only 1 partition. Any way to make this happen since there is only about 3-4 Gigs being used??

Thanks, Don

Sure. use Partitionmagic and resize the large drive to something slightly smaller than the backup target drive. Ghost it...Then when restoring you wont have a problem and then can use PM to enlarge it

Just a simple workaround

I'm not familiar with Ghost 6.0 because I use ghost 6.5.

Using default settings with Ghost 6.5, and allowing Fast compression, a target partition of 4gigs would often be less than a 2gig image. I still get a restorable image that is effectively the exact same data as the original 4gigs of used data. Using this method I can restore on a 4gig drive or anything larger.

Rather than creating a clone copy, create an image with compression setting at high. Clone copies only wastes diskspace since it also occupies unallocated space on the back up drive... I have 3 system images on a single 20GB hard disk drive and space for one more system. Because an image file is used only when restoration is needed, and not frequently, this would be a more efficient way to do it in my opinion...
