Troubles w/ XP and installing programs

ok.. i'm logged in as the admin to do this but it still tells me this on a fresh install no sp1 install or even w/ sp1 installed.. the admin has set policies that prevent the installation of this application. .... now i've not even touched anything.. i'm talking plain jane install.. no drivers, upgrades, nothing.. just xp and it's lonesome lil self... this is on XP Pro... i've formatted and reinstalled so many times now that i can quote almost every page that passes by as you install.. what's going on here?... any helps is greatly appreciated... and thanks in advance to anyone who helps me w/ this...

thank you again,

Chris

well, the first thing i would check is if the user account you are using to install the program has the necessary admin level privileges.

the brain dead way that xp sets up user accounts during the 'welcome' session can be a mite confusing.

welp i figured it out.. i noticed that this happened when i was running from a cd on one particular drive... copying it over would produce the exact same erros so i tried something.. i put it in my dvd drive and blamo.. it works w/out a hitch.. was QPS Que! 40/12/48x CD-RW drive.... nabbed that out and put in my TDK 32/10/40x drive and no probs what so ever.. so to any of you using this drive and having the same problems it's more than likely the drive.. hope this helps others out there to defeat this really odd occurance.

Boot from the CD and format / partition using the utilities on the Original XPPro CD, No problems - if you are using a back-up of your original there may be problems as some files are hidden and not "backed-up" exactly.

Failing this try to install WIN98SE then run XPPro upgrade - it will take an hour or so, but will result in a perfect install.
