clipping problems in dialog boxes

Hi,

I've been having some clipping/cropping problems in dialog boxes of various programs. The dialog box just sort of stops where text should continue, generally making it difficult to fill in information.
The programs this occurs in seems to be diverse with no common trait among each (that I can see) - it's happened in a calculator program, a newsgroup reader and a few P2P programs (among others).

I've tried updating my video drivers and/or finding fixes online but I have been unable to locate any information about problems of this sort. I'm also not sure how long this has been occurring but I think it started with the first drivers I used.

I'm running a Sapphire OEM Radeon 7500 in a Soltek SL-DRV5 motherboard. Athlon XP 1800+, 256MB of PC2100 DDR, I don't think there's any sort of conflict with my AGP slot or anything but I have no idea of what could be causing this problem. Any ideas of what could be causing it or how to fix it? Thanks in advance.

edit: this is in Windows XP Professional w/ Service Pack 1 (although the problem was occuring prior to SP1)
NB: The attached image shows the problem in action.

That is really wild! Could it be that perhaps a file is corrupted. I think XP has a prog to detect that stuff. I don't remeber the command to get it though... Any one remember?

Anyone else have any idea of what the program is called or how to fix this?

Goto your "display properties" and to the "appearance" tab.

Go through the "items" one by one and for all the ones that have a font listed make sure it's using a standard font of a normal size.

For example you might want to make them all "Microsoft Sans Serif" at a size of 10 points and see if that helps.

I've tried that and everything is uniform, Tahoma - size 8. I was thinking maybe one of my fonts is corrupted, could that cause this sort of problem?

I guess it could. I think what usually causes this problem is the exact font Windows is trying to use is missing (or maybe corrupt) so it ends up using another font.

Something I'd try would be to just delete all your fonts in your font folder and replace them with all the standard fonts from Windows.
