RAID 0 master/slave to master/master

My new system has a Promise PDC20276 chip on the Gigabyte GA-8IHXP motherboard. It is set to RAID 0 using two WD800JB drives. I just discovered that RAID 0 was installed with both drives in one channel, one as master the other as slave. This is not the configuration recommended by Promise. Should I change it so that each drive is connected to a different channel, both as a master? If so, how do I do this? Can I just add another cable and change the jumper? Will I have to reinstall my operating system (Win XP Pro) and my other software?

My Raid 0 is setup on separate channels and both drives are set as master, and as far as I know this is the only way to get the max performance.

If you test your sys. on http://www.pcpitstop.com/pcpitstop/ I think you will find that you are running at 1/2 speed with your current setup.

Having each drive on it's own channel is definitely the way to go. You can see my setup on my web-site. I don't think you should have to reinstall anything.
