Unhappy Error C00D10D1 on WMP. Error Downloading Codec

I have spent the last few days trying to convert avi's to Mpeg. Finally got a decent convertor and decompressor and the stupid thing still doesn't work. Try to run it as a decompressed avi and i get the Error Downloading codec message. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong and how i can fix it. PLEASE HELP

I suppose you have converted it to something that isn't. If you can encode it to something, it's quite impossible to not have that codec.

Can you view the frames in the original program (the one you used to encode it). Does it even play the audio stream of the file? The audio stream of standard mpeg file is in mp3, which should be decoded without any external decoders.

If you can't get it easily working, get a cdrw disc, and use nero to convert it to a vcd, then just open the .dat file.

    Cool

    Muno.

I have rectified the problem. It was trying to look for the DIVX codec. Downloaded that and the only prob i have now is the sync problem which is down to my retarded Processor and RAM size. I found out that downloading Win MP 9 runs my MPEG's easier too. Thankjs for the advice and I will VCD some of the stuff I have because they are taking up mopst of my Hard Drive space.

I know you've rectified, but last night I was looking up a codec error and found a site that had a bunch and even told you which ones you needed. Of course, now I can't find it. I'll have a look when I get home to see if I can bring it up, if so, I'll post the link.
