| Win 2K Customizing tool bar by clock...
I am trying to learn Win 2K as I configure it. As you know, every time you sneeze you have another icon in the tool bar - the one down by the time.
In win 98 you could go to system info and there was a system configuration utility where you could add and delete items. Where is it's equivalent in win 2k?
Thanks in Advance...

THose are programs that are running... you can't just whap them out.
You can remove them from starting up by going STart -> Run then "msconfig" (without quotes) and going to the startup tab.

msconfig does not run in Win2k (atleast not default)... easiest way to do it is to download something like RegCleaner. Click on startup tab and all proggies are listed there... most placed in the lower right by clock are not needed- just junk put in startup by almost every single proggie installed... tick me off .
RegCleaner- http://www.webmasterfree.com/regcleaner.html
EDIT: latest version here- http://www.webattack.com/get/regcleaner.shtml |

| It doesn't even come with (I know I'm the king of semantics). As far as eaisiest? I think it is much eaiser to just download msconfig and use that
Snag it here and put it in your windows folder. http://www2.whidbey.com/djdenham/Fil...n/MSCONFIG.EXE

Or you can use StartupCPL, which is the one I use and prefer!
Once it's installed, it's easy to get to in the Control Panel.

startupcpl, regcleaner, msconfig...they all, will do the trick.
the added bonus of using regcleaner is that not only will it disable the desired startups, but you'll also have a cleaner registry afterwards.
i don't like d/l'ing & installing more stuff than necessary...msconfig does what you need. |
