Problems with XP User Profile

My computer was being real sluggish last night so i restarted it and when i went to log in to my account i got a box saying "Windows cannot load your profile because it may be corrupted. Contact your Administrator." I pushed OK on that box then another one came up saying "Windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you on with a temporary account. All changes you make will be lost." If i go into Docs and Settings i can still access all the files from my other account. Is there any way i can bring back my regular account with all the same settings? Ive tried restarting a couple of times and each time it brings me to this temp account. btw, this is XP Pro and i am the only user.

Most likely your profile IS corrupted.

yep, seen this happen a few times on my dad's XP machine.
Just create a new account, copy all the folders, and you should be basically up and running again. Some things will need to be redone. Big pain in the butt if you ask me... you think they could have a utility for repairing profiles or something.
Anyway, seems to happen more often if the machine is crashing, or not being shut-down properly, so try to avoid those.(haha, like we don't always try to avoid crashes anyway, right?)
