| freezing and errors in games
I just bought a new system and I'm getting errors and freezing during games. Usually about every 15 - 20 mins.
Sys specs:
2400 + xp cpu
A7N8X asus nforce 2 mobo
MSI GF 4 ti4200
2x256 ddr @333
40 gig maxtor
pioneeer dvd
lite on cdrw
450 watt psu
The cdrw, dvd, and gf4 were on my old system, so these are probably not the cause.
I tried multiple display drivers, nforce 2 chipset drivers, latest bios, directx 8.1 and 9.
In games I get faulting module unknown or nvoglnt.dll
at fault address.
I suspect this is nvidia related. So chipset or video driver?
Thanks in advance |

Well, I've tried no sound acceleration and it seems that I no longer have the error problem.
I'm still testing, but looking good. I think I may put in my sblive value in there.
Anyone else having problems with the A7N8X? |

I sometimes get some funny error messages with the NVXXX.dll files and don't really know what they mean.
I do believe that they are Nvidia related, but should I just delete those files that it says are having errors?
It's not too often, but it happens occassionally, and takes me out of my game to tell me that an error has occurred. It doesn't quit the game, it just takes me to my desktop.
Does the Uninstall/Install programs in the control panel really work for getting rid of Nvidia drivers? I think my problem is that my new drivers are conflicting with some old driver files, even though I thought I deleted the old ones, there still could be remnants. |

Do you have the asus A7N8X mobo also? I'm thinking that its the onboard sound now. I'm trying my sblive, and if it works, well its definatly the sound.
Add/remove display drivers usually works for me. But there's always the possibility of conflicting with old drivers that weren't deleted properly. |

No hehe, I have a Gigabyte GA-7VRXP motherboard. And it has the onboard sound ENABLED.
I was considering getting a new sound card for it, because the onboard likes to crackle from time to time. |

I just did the mem test and it reports errors. Is the ram faulty?
I've seen in another forum a guy that had the same problem. Although his ram was from a old system and he never got errors with his old mobo. Since the new mobo, he's had memory errors.
His solution was switching ram slots.
I'll try that and see what happens. |

Switching ram slots didn't help either. Memtest-86 still reports errors.
I tried ram that I had in my old system. I know this ram is good. I ran Memtest-86 again to see if it would show up with errors. No errors reported.
I think the ram is faulty or is it the fact that it's ddr333 instead of ddr266. Maybe a mobo compatibility thing. Is it common to get errors in memtest-86?
Should I return the ram? |
