Stupid digital speakers!
A neighbor hired me to fix his PC. Seems that he had to reinstall the OS after some crash..hmm. I had worked on this machine before. So I go over, and there are 4 things I must do:
1. Get Scanner Up
2. Fix Printer
3. Install Word
4. Get Sound Working
1-3 wwere done in no time (took an hour, but most of that was searching for the Word 97 product key.)
Number 4, however, posed a problem. I had set up the sound card just fine (SB Live! Value). With headphones attached, it worked jsut fine. However, the speakers (Boston Accustics BA738 Digital) form the computer (It is a Gateway system) won't work. I tried plugging them into a portable CD player...with no luck. I then realized they were digital speakers when I noticed the plud had only 2 'prongs' (It was monoural in other words). I tried plugging the speaker into every port on the sund card and testing it twice, with the second time being with 'Digital Output Only' selected. Nothing works. However, before the crash, the speakers worked just fine. Am I missing something?

Might need to get an adapter from mono ( 2 plugs) into a stereo input for the sound card. Like hooking up a wire from your PC to an amplifier with RCA plugs...if you get my drift... Good luck
