I have a brand new Jetway 15" LCD Monitor. Been using it for about three weeks. Yesterday it stopped booting up. I get a message that says "No Signal" and the screen goes black. Any suggestions for a easy fix by a novice like me? |

That's supposed to happen when the monitor stops getting a signal. The monitor is probably working but you've lost the connection to the computer or your video card is not producing a signal. Check the cable first. |

| ok . . . here's another dumb question
I have two other monitors in the house, but they are both hard wired. This new monitor has a m/f cable. How do I test it without a new cable? Its a brand new cable is it possible that it has gone bad already? |

Have you been inside the case at all with-in the past several weeks? You could have wiggled the vid card slightly loose. If not, and the cable is firmly attached then the vid card is probably bad. And regardless of whether it's the cable, you need to check it on another computer/vid card combo to be sure it is the monitor or the cable and not somthing else. In any case if it doesn't work on a different combo then it needs to be repaired. I'm assuming that the card is rated properly for this monitor?

first try one of the other monitors to make sure all is well with the computer. then swap monitors back and see if it works.
I have a sony monitor that does somethething similar and the above metioned swap is all it takes to get it back up and running. You might also want to check in the device manager and see how many monitor you have listed.

| That's an excellent suggestion! I would do this in Safe Mode, however, and go ahead and check all device trees to remove all instances of devices in any tree listing more than the number you actually have. It's important to remove all so that the proper one can be found on re-boot. |

Even if the vid card is not loose, remove it and re-seat it anyway. I've had this happen to me...bought a new vid card b/c I thought mine was bad, then got the old one to work again. Never was sure what happened, but it didn't seem loose before being re-seated. Good luck! |

I got this error the other day too. My problem was that my computer has onboard video and I had added a PCI video card a few months ago - I disabled the onboard video but somehow the setting got lost so the computer was trying to use the onboard video. When I plugged the monitor into the other video connector, I got a display, and was able to go back in and disable the onboard video. Good Luck! |

I really feel stupid here . . . nothing seems to work . . . and I'm getting frustrated!! Now I'm not even sure if I have a vid card!! there is only one port on my computer for the monitor and it realy isn't a card. It just seems to be attached to the motherboard. I took a VGA card out of another computer tonight and installed it, but the monitor still came up "No Signal" As you can see, I'm posting this at about 3:00 a.m., so this problem is even keeping me up at night!! Please Help!! |
