ECS K7SEM & GeForce4mx won't boot

ECS K7SEM, win/98, Chaintech GeForce4mx440 4Xagp interface
http://www.chaintech.com.tw/eng/products/VGA/A-G445.asp

The K7SEM requires using a nVidia 4X card
http://www.ecsusa.com/products/k7sem.html
"Support External (4X) & Internal AGP (4X) "

typical installation, change Display Driver to Standard VGA, reboot, board should automatically detect card rather than onboard vid.

have power, Fan spins on GeForce4, won't boot, no beeps, screen is black like NO video signal.

If it wasn't properly seated it would give a beep code. Is the monitor on *flash back*

Do you have a known good video card to test the motherboard or a known good computer where you can test the video card.

Has an onboard vid 4X, works fine.
Is supposed to auto detect agp
can't even get to bios to check other setting of:
Int Display pci/agp

It will autodetect a properly seated, working agp card.
There will be NO beep code. The onboard is still enabled...

This is a brand new card, & I sincerely doubt it is DOA
seats ok, bolts in ok, no misalignment, has power, fans (inc fan on vid-card) spins. Can't even get to bios to check other setting of: "Int Display pci/agp"

Screen is Black, like no vid signal. Even tried another monitor.
Pulled card, switching back to onboard vid, works fine. I'm stumped.

Always a chance that the mainboard is grounding when you insert the agp card. Pull the mainboard and set it up as a basic system on a phone book. See if it will post with the agp card. If it does not - The card was D.O.A...

To test MRC's theory on the card being improperly seated try unpluging the Video cable from the graphics card and plug it in to the onboard video with the Graphics card pluged in and if it boots up while the monitor is pluged into the onboard graphics and the graphics card is pluged in then it's improperly like MRC pointed out but if it doesn't boot when you do what I posted then it could be DOA and you could do what MRC mentioned by isolating the Video card.
