A freind of mine has a Celeron 600 PC and has just got more ram for it. The existing ram it had was 64mb PC100, she has gotten 2 x 128mb PC133 ram for it (she was recomended this by a shop). Upon installing the ram the bios only reads the ram as 64mb. I have tried the different ram slots, fiddled around with the bios, but it still will only read the ram as 64mb.
Now the difficult part was identifying the mobo as there was completely no labling on it aside from the chipset which is VT82C5968, I believe that is a VIA chipset. The mobo has 1 AGP, 1 ISA, 3 PCI and 2 Dimm, currently has a socket celeron 600 cpu. |

Can you read the bios string on the bottom of the first boot screen? Or, try www.belarc.com |

64Mb each or total? if it's 64Mb each then chances are the motherboard isn't compatible with that Memory (double sided would be needed) |

Try the free download from Belarc to see if it identifies your board. |

What about SiSoft Sandra? did you try to let it detect your MoBo and BIOS versions? http://www.sisoftware.demon.co.uk/sandra/
You know that Sandra does a decent job in identifying almost anything in your case.. |

this is almost exactly the same mobo except the JP1 (clear cmos) jumper is in a different place. I have cleared the cmos, this makes no difference. |

sandra says the motherboard is a 692-596-8671
not very useful
manufactuer says it is an AST |
