Biostar M7MIA will only recognize 1 DDR stick
Hi all,
I'm ready to pitch this mobo.
Biostar M7MIA, with raid, ddr, 761 chipset, latest bios and drivers.
I can't get this sucker to recognize more than a few mb of second pc2100 stick(256mb sticks). Doesn't matter what brand/combo. I know the memory is good, as it works in other systems. I don't use this for raid, just a cheap system for basic stuff, but would like to get 512 to be used. When I add the second stick, mem test goes from 256 registered to @ 264 mb.
Suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
LC

very odd.
well assuming the memory is compatible, and you've tried everything else (rechecked bios settings, etc) maybe it's a defective memory socket on the mobo.
is it still under warranty? i would exchange it...

Hi Prester,
No such luck; this was the replacement mobo 11+ months into the 1 year warranty (8-9 months ago). It still works well at 256, but I'd like ...
Any way to check that socket thing? Also I was thinking another solution may be 1 stick of 512 pc2100.
Also, what specific bios settings would I look for, in case I've missed some. Award bios, I believe.
Thanks.Millions long for immortality who don't know what to do with themselves on a rainy Sunday afternoon.

that is one workaround. just check to make sure the bios recognizes the higher density.
btw, are you running the latest bios? it probably won't help any, but w/stuff like this, even the improbable is worth a shot.
