Since you have broadband internet this shouldn't be a problem downloading some large programs. Go to http://www.futuremark.com/ and in the downloads section try PCMark200X and 3DMark2003. The first will give you a CPU score, memory score, and a hard drive score. 3DMark will give you a score based upon your graphics card(and system). Register with them and post the URL here so we can all see the scores of your new machine. This is useful for comparing similar systems and seeing if yours is performing like it should. Looks nice by the way.

It's pretty low unless you're running with onboard video. Then I would say it's pretty good. What video card are you running? |

Did it run ALL of the tests? I've had experience with that card and none of it was good. The picture looked great but it wouldn't play any games that I have like Medal of Honor, No One Lives Forever 2, Return to Castle Wolfenstien, or Jedi Knight Jedi outcast. I kept getting error messages saying, "no T&L hardware support". Replaced it with a GeForce 3 Ti200 and everything played well. Your 3DMark scores sound about right for that card. If you're not into playing games then it's a great card for the money. Otherwise get a newer card. If you go with nVidia stay away from the MX line of cards. |

The GeForce 4 MX440 gave me a score a little over 4000 or so. With the GeForce 3 Ti 200 my 3DMark score was around 7500. Upgraded to an 8x GeForce 4 Ti4200 and am getting a little over 10500. All this was with an older XP 1700+ T-bred A core CPU, 512mb DDR Kingston PC2700 on an ABIT KD7 mobo. Your setup is a newer chipset(nForce2) and your video card is holding you back. Upgrade if you want more performance. If it does everything you want it to and looks good then keep it as it is. Don't get caught up in benchmarking numbers. |
