I am installing the lm_sensors hardware monitoring program onto Mandrake 9.0.
I am at a part I can not figure out, could someone please explain to me how to do this part...the copying of these files to the specified directories. |

You need to copy them to:
/lib/modules/2.4.18***/kernel/drivers/i2c/
Where the **** is just press tab and it wil complete it for you - should be 2.4.18-6-mdk or something. Obviously this will e different if you have modified the kernel config.
Then you add the FULL paths to these modules to /lib/modules/2.4.18***/modules.dep
Just add them to the bottom and save. Make a backup first. You might need to reboot before you can modprobe them so it can update the deps but I don't know.

ok, but where do I copy them from? edit: I have all in those directories except for the
eeprom /lib/modules/2.4.19-16mdk/kernel/drivers/i2c/i2c-isa.o.gz: /lib/modules/2.4.19-16mdk/kernel/drivers/i2c/i2c-core.o.gz
is what they look like, so after I copy them to the right file, I then enter the path like is listed above...right?
And also, what is the second part about the etc/modules.conf? Is that where I enter the path to them in the directory like above?

Ok, compiled and configured...sort of. if you look at the attached image, you will notice the 3 ram chip temps and their very different redings! What would cause this and also, the 2.5V reading is way off! I know it is correct because my Windows monitor always showed it as 2.5 or so and i do not think my system would be running. How do I adjust these or figure out why they are so far off?
wait a minute...I think I have it! The temp 1 is the processor, the temp 2 is the case and I am unclear on what temp 3 is, would that be the ram chips?
edit:the first one is definitely the processor, I run the seti client and temp rises to around 59*C. Still not sure about the +2.5V reading though or the 3rd temp reading.
And I really hope the cpu fan reading is wrong too!

Ok, have everything adjusted for the most part. Still unsure what the 3rd temp reading is though, or if the Vcor reading is right. The resr seems to be right now. |

The default sensors config may not match the order they are laid out on your mainboard. Play around in /etc/sensors.conf
The Vcore looks about right if it's a Tbird or Palamio. What CPU are you using? |

It is a Duron 1300 I located all of the info on the voltages, I had to manually adjust the +2.5V reading so that it would read correctly, not sure why, but it is all working great now. I can not find anything about the 3rd temp reading. There is an entry in the /etc/sensors.conf about the dimm so I am guessing it might be the ram temp. Still not completely sure though. |

Look in your mobo manual, it might tell you there.
normally, if there are three, it is case, board and cpu temps. |
