Virus update

Hello again, i went over there today and things seemed ok. his computer is alittle slow and when i was on there it seemed to freeze up a bit. i installed a Mcafee virus protection and when it was installed nothing seemed to happen. I tired clicking on the icons and nothing worked. I have no idea what is wrong and there is no troubleshooting tips in the manual. Has anyone used this program?? do i have to register it over the internet or something?? Any help would be great. again he is running windows 98 with a pentium II processor.

Some viruses have the ability to disable antivirus programs

Did you go do the online scan as suggested in the original post? Also, if you go to Symantec's website, you can download and run many different virus removal tools

I downloaded all of them and burned them to a disk, so that I can go to anyone's house and clean their system very quickly and easily

Hi Kevo, Welcome to TechIMO.

I have Norton Anti-Virus 2k3 running at the moment, it ships on a cd that can be booted from, if system allows ( PII Processor bios should allow booting from a CD )

These days, you cannot have enough anti-virus software!

As Kuasimodem says, viruses love to attack anti-virus programs !

How do you manually delete viruses?? can you delete them from the registry??

if your friend has internet connectivity, try running an on-line virus scan.

kevo, check my link above and download the virus removal tools that you need from that page after doing a scan at the link that PresterJohn posted. Run each one of the tools to remove each virus.
