Slow Down(normal?)

Pentium 4 2.53 gig
GeForce 4 Ti4600(40.72 drivers, AA and the like set to 2x)
512 RD Ram
XP Home(most backgrounds disabled)

Ok, I just bought CC: Generals. Running at 1152x???. I get slow down even in medium sized battles if there is alot of crap flying around. Mostly light streaks from missles and RPGs. Also explosions. It will stutter during the battle. Is this normal for my specs?(it happens even if detail and rez is bumped down a notch to medium and 1024x768)

Ok I put it in the lowest rez(800x600) and lowest detail. Same slow down. What could that mean?

does it stutter when you play other games? also check the game vendor's site for any patches,etc.

I heard that sometimes the newest drivers have some bugs. Maybe try an older driver version(I don't know which one would be best but someone here should). BTW Welcome to Techimo.

Yeah I tried different drivers, using the 40.72s now and I tried the 41.somethings. It doesn't exactly stutter when I play other games but I don't seem to be getting all the preformance I should be w/ my specs. My mobo is a D850EMV2 so I can't exactly tweak alot. Any more suggestions?
