| Screen Freeze.....................
I just knew I'd be back on here sometime just not this soon.
Okay (deep breath........) I have just recently purchased a new motherboard and processor XP2100+ & K7S5A. The processor wasnt picked up by the Bios correctly as it was confusing it with an XP1500+ but we have now got over that hurdle thanks to the Genius of this forum and its members. Im running windows 98 MX400 ge- force 2 graphics (pci) PC133 512 mb of sdram 300 watt psu. I have found that when running my favourite first person shooter be it unreal tornament or quake3 wolfenstein that after a short while everything comes to a stand still. The screen freezes and nothing I do will unlock it (CTRL ALT Delete) included. Could it be another BIOS setting that needs tweaked??
I knew I'd have a few teething problems with this board but Im tearing my hair out now. Help???

I would imagine it's your MX pci card that is holding you back. I run the same board with an XP 1800+, 384 mb PC133 and a GF3 Ti 500 64 with no troubles at all on UT2K3. I also run it with an XP 1700+, 512mb PC2100 and a GF3 Ti 200 64.
How's your heat?
I would recommend a GF4 Ti 4xxx AGP series card and I bet your problems would go away.

How do you mean hows your heat and how do i go about checking the system for that kind of a problem. I never thought it would be the card as I used this PCI on my older board with a celeron processor without a hitch

Go into your bios at start up and look for your CPU temp and case temps. It's in one of the selections on the right. I just don't remember what it's called. |

Under 40c would be great. Under 60c is the very top you want to be. The cooler it is, the faster it is. |
