I want to make a custom icon for an MS Access file

I have made others for other things, but there is no shortcut tab on the desktop icon like most other icons.

I have an MS (Office 97) Access DB that I want to make a phone book icon for on the desktop. I can get one on the title bar when the DB is open, but that is not what I want.

    Thanks in advance...

If the file itself is on the desktop, not a shortcut, then there will be no shortcut tab. If you move the file somewhere else, then create a shortcut to it on the desktop you will be able to assign it a custom icon.

The Icon has the little arrow signifying that it is a shortcut, not a file...

Ah, Success. Open your database. Do a right click on the form (or report) that you short cut will point to. Select create shortcut. In the text box it will show the shortcut. Copy it to the clip board. You do not need to create the shortcut. Go to you desktop and create a new file. I did a text file. Make sure your OS is set to show file extensions. If it does not change it by opening my computer, seleting view in the menu and options. Take the check out of hide extentions. Change the file name to shortcut.lnk, or whatever you wish to name it, as long as the extension is lnk. Hit OK. Right click and go to properties. In shortcut paste the shortcut on the clipboard from access. Click the change icon button, and WaLa. A new shortcut, that you can alter the icon in.

Custom forms are pretty easy to create. What version of Access are you using?

Doh, I don't have that version with me. I'm traveling and only have 2010 on this laptop. If I recall correctly you should just be able to click a forms wizard and it will walk you through creating a custom form. You can also create a form manually if you're more adventurous. If you already have a form and just want to add the photo in the background, you can just edit the form.
