Help! Computer died / won't start

Ok. I was doing something else at the time, but I saw that my monitor went black, so I thought it went into power save or something. But when I moved the mouse, Windows2k didn't come back. So now I thought it froze, I clicked the reboot button. The computer started making weird floppy noises, and the monitor stayed black. It also beeped a few times. I opened up the case and checked the video card. As I thought, it had come out of place. I pushed it back in and tried to reboot. But the system still won't turn on. The floppy noises had stopped, so at startup, it just beeps every few seconds, and the monitor stays dark. I went back and pulled out all the cards except the video card, but it's still not working. Help!

Specs:
K7S5A w/ Duron 1gig
20gig Maxtor
256mb sdram
LiteOn dvd-rom
Sony cd-rw
OEM Radeon 7000
Dlink lan card
Ati tv-tuner
Generic Modem

Do you have another vid card to try?

To POST, you need . . .

CPU
RAM
Floppy
Vid Card

Also try unplugging the PSU connector from the mobo a few seconds, then plug it back in.

well you did the right thing by pulling the cards and trying it....do you have another vid card??

or maybe try a pci vid card..maybe the agp slot got messed up.

When you say it wont boot...what EXACTLY does it do??

And a thought of the top of my head, a longshot...try clearing the cmos...(a pain to redo it, I know)

I don't have another AGP card. Already tried with a PCI card... didn't work.

I didn't reset the BIOS, that'll probably be my last option.

I think the CPU and floppy are fine. Tried another floppy and got the same noises.

I'll try the ram in another comp.

I really hope my hdd isn't fried

The hdd souldn't cause your computer to not POST, so it should be fine.

could also try removing all the cables form the board...unplug the ide and floppy cable from the board in other words, in case its the hd affecting the boot.

sounds like you just lost some ram or video card if the beeping is constant. If you have more than one stick of ram try one at a time if still a no go try a PCI video card or another AGP card as a last resort.

edit your hard drive should not make it not post, if you are getting a beep code it isn't even making it that far.

I only have one stick in there, and it worked on another computer...

I'm gonna try another PCI in there.

If that still doesn't work, I'll unplug everything, then plug em back...
