amr modems any good?

has anyone ever worked with an amr modem? are they any good? Ive never had but a pci modem and didnt have that long at all before I went to cable. BUilding a puter for a girl and not sure if an amr modem is cool or if I should just go with a regular pci modem. thanks

I've had friends who've had them. Said they worked fine. But I myself still prefer PCI.

I recently built a machine for my daughter using an ECS K7VZM board with an AMR modem. Seems whenever the system resources get low [Windows ME] the modem quits. If you try to dial with the modem while the resources are low you get a message saying there is no modem present. No Kidding.
