how do I copy this file from a remote location?

how do I copy this file from a remote location?

I'm logging into a remote computer via SSH. I want to copy a file at that location to my current computer. can anyone tell me the way how?

remote node is a linux box, home node is a winXP box

It depends if the remote Linux box is running an FTP server. If so, you can connect to it using an FTP program like WSFTP or CuteFTP.

There is a command you can use on the Linux box to check, unfortunately I can't remember it right now.

If it does, you should be able to get to the file that way.

mmm... i was thinking that there should be a way to do it w/o the box running a server.

anyone know of one (or if it is impossible)?

Okay if your connecting with SSH use SFTP.

That's the openBSD manual page, you did say your using SSH if so the linux box is as well why the 'w/o running a server'?

If you are doing this from a windows box you can use winscp2.
