    Changing PSU Fan

    Hello,

I have an old p75 with an AT PSU that has a noisy fan. So I wanted to change it out with a fan I have from an ATX PSU that I have lying around. The fan from the AT has two wires, black and red, and the ATX fan has 3 wires, black, red and blue. What's the blue wire for? Will I be safe wiring it in with just the black and red wires, leaving the blue taped up?

Cheers and thanks for any help!!!

    ^hyd^

The blue wire should be a tachometer wire. That wire reports the speed of the fan back to the system, and the speed can be increased or decreased as needed. You don't need that wire for the fan to work. BE CAREFUL INSIDE A POWER SUPPLY. There are enough volts stored there to kill you.
