horrible feedbackish sound: please help

a while back i posted that my computer made a clicking sound whenever i moved my mouse

well thats gone now, but now it has been replaced by a horrible high pitched feedbackish sound, like you would get from a microphone

it doesnt show up as a sound on my "mixer" - i cannot mute it
i can drown it out somewhat with loud music but its still there
any ideas?

since it just started doing it i will restart and see if it goes away, but even if it does, i would like to know how to prevent it from happening again

i have win98
onboard sound blaster audio pci 64v
192 mb ram

well i found the problem and now i am slightly relieved
my $20 labtec spin 50 speakers gave out - i found out when i restarted and the noise didnt go away
i guess i can even blame them for the clicking sound when i moved the mouse

i am glad it wasnt my crappy onboard sound

I had a similar problem with the clicking sound. It turned out that the speaker was on top of the mouse cord. Every time that I moved the mouse, the speaker would make a weird hum/crackle. Thanks,

Jeff
