Random crashes to desktop w/ new EP-8RDA+ rig

Hello. My new computer build went pretty successfully, all things considered, but now one thing is annoying me, and I can't quite fix it.

When I am using intensive programs (games, benchmarks, etc.), they will periodically crash to the desktop. I have only experienced this twice--once with 3DMark2001SE, and once with High Heat 2004. Both times the program would randomly go to black, and I'd suddenly be back at the desktop. Everything else was the same. I assume this has happened other times--I will leave my machine with programs like Sandra or PerfectDisk running, and when I come back, nothing is running. I don't think it rebooted--just went to the desktop.

Here's my setup:
Epox 8RDA+
AthlonXP 2400+
Crucial PC2700 512MB DDRRAM
Geforce4 Ti4400
Seagate Barracuda V 120GB
Onboard sound, networking
DVD-ROM/CD-RW
Windows XP

I heard that my Crucial RAM (the exact 512MB PC2700 module) had an incompatibility with the nForce2 chipset, bt I haven't had the problems consistant with what I've read. Anything know more about this?

I also have the updated Epox drivers (version 2.0), the updated BIOS, and the newest Detenators, and latest Windows updates.

try uninstalling the detonators and try using the reference drivers ( or a previos version of the detonators ) and see if that fixes the issue...

also I would reccomend seeing about replacing that stick of incompatible ram as that COULD possibly be causing your problems also...

Well I called up Crucial, and they said it was a chipset problem, not their problem, so they are not required to provide a replacement. I'll call again and hopefully get a different rep. Anyone else have news on this?

I was just kicking some butt in NBA Live 2003, and it randomly crashed right in the middle of the game.

I'll try different Dets--it's just some crashes, like SANDRA and PerfectDisk, have nothing to do with graphics, so I doubt they're the problem... hmm...

Hmmm... BurnInTest runs fine for a while, as does Sandra at this point. NBA Live still crashes quickly. I'll track down some PC2100... I'll rip it out of my other machine temporarily. Then we'll see if that's the problem. Are these common problems associated with that RAM?
