    I tell ya it's goin' out the window soon!

     
    My DVD drive keeps disapearing

    If I re-boot all well, but its a right royal pain

    XP Pro
    K7S5A (3.0)
    XP2000+ (SLK800 & Delta 80X36)
    512 PC133
    300W
    Creative 52X infra
    Sony DVD
    LG Burner (Nero)
    30 Gig Fujitsu

    Tried swearing at it No luck so far

    check the IDE cables, make sure they are pluged in tight,and that the power connectors are plugged in all the way.COuld be the drive dying too

    The drive is brand spankin new!

    plugs put in with a mallot..................

    Only thing left to do is Nuke it!

    dvd drive disappearing act..

    I was watching the screensavers show and they talked about how roxio burning software would make drives disappear...I can not remember if they where specific but I do remember it had something to do with if you had more than one burner..just thought I would throw that out there

    i have had drives that arrived dead before try another drive from a friend or something see if it works and if it does you know that it is the drive itself.

    From the list above, my guess is that the power supply is overstressed, making the drive power down occasionally.
    Check the idle voltages in BIOS, and if you see something suspiciously low or high, get a real PSU.

    Thinkin' of moving "State Side" is there a psu you would recomend that will deal with both enviroments?

    I was thinkin of a 500w or similar
