NEED HELP PLEASE!!

My friend has a virus that he downloaded on his computer and he has Norton Anitvirus 2003. He has fixed every single file with this virus (virus name W32.pinfi) except one document and Windows will not let him delete the file becuase its protected or something (file name KJA9.tmp)(C:Windows/temp/kjAp.tmp). Any ideas on how to erase this thing?

Thanks

navigate to the file by using the "cd" (change directory) command

cd windows\temp

When you're in the temp directory use the "del" (delete) command

del "filename"

You can also use a "dir" (directory command) to find out if the file is there

dir "filename" or dir *.* (* is a wildcard)

if you can't see the file you can also try

dir /a

this will show you hidden files also

There is another appraoch to the problem as well. If Windows won't let you delete a file, it is often because a running progam has the file in question in use. If you shut down the progam that is using the file, you can delete it.

The bad news is that if the file is in use there may still be a virus 'app.' running in the background somewhere. You might try shutting some programs down and see if you can delete it.
