when i click on a link, the window begins to open........ i get the frame but that's as far as it goes. this is something that just started to happen. anyone have any ideas? |

try a windows update? are you running a pop up blocker? what version are you running? what os? system specs? |

win98
512 mb ram
no pop up blocker
i tried windows update that doesn't work either..........it scans, finds the updates , the download window opens.....................and thats it ........nothing |

Have you tried Repairing I.E.? http://beemerworld.com/tips/ie5repair.htm
If that doesn't work, check for spyware.
Use Ad Aware. Spybot isn't available at this present time or I would send you there.
If Spyware isn't your problem, try restarting your machine in MS-DOS Mode. At the C:\> prompt, type scanreg /restore and pick one of the 5 dates that are previous to your problem symptoms. Follow the prompts and restart your machine.

running ie6.......tried to to repair it but it said it could not be done because it found files from previous versions...........tried reinstalling it over current version but nothing changed |

check your security settings for the internet zone (esp activeX controls,etc)
frankly, if you are not running xp, i would avoid IE6 altogether. i have found 5.5sp2 to be the least buggy of all the IE versions floating around out there.
edit: i'm also assuming you're running ie6sp1

are u running norton Internet security or any other program like that that blocks acces to programs to the net............................my comp did something like this when i blocked scripts to run.................may wanna check |
