| CPU or Motherboard bad???? CPU burned dunno???
I am having problems installing and getting my CPU and Motherboard to work ??? dunno why
i have done everything they suggest on the manual, i did everything the same way, i don't know what is wrong the Motherboard or CPU........i want to know is there a way to test each of these, i also want to know the signs of a bad CPU, or if i could have burned it and how to find out
(obviously it is not charred up so i have not found out) with the motherboard they gave me a heat compund and a heatsink and fan, i applied a thin film only on the DIE and fit the heatsink and fan, it has only the middle clip and a cut which sits at the socket 462 end, so i did that.
now do u people have any clue whats going on, i have tried DDR and SDRAM, which works on other boxes, i also tried clearing the CMOS as suggested using the jumpers........This is my config....
NEW ECS K7S5A-PRO
AMD Athlon XP 1800+
PNY PC2100 256MB-RAM- 2 chips
Maxtor 80Gig drive
and Gforce some old Video card
i hope to hear from a lot of u guys soon, as if i figure they came in bad i better return them in the 30 day period.
Thanks.

all fans spin up, no beeps no keyboard lights and no video. the LED on the front of the box turn on...............when u connect the plug on the back of the BOX and have not yet hit the power kep on the panel in front there seems to be a faint buzzing......i think this is normal...
this used to happen on my PC CHIPS board too
So the thing is it does not POST, the power supply is all AMD approved and worked as i used to have a PCCHIPs and AMD 1700+ in the same bos, which i have donated now..........so the things that have changed now are just the motherboard and CPU |

wait, u didn't stick both ddr and sdram in there togather did u? (i know ur not that stupid but just making sure). anyway, im thinking its a cpu prob. but sometimes u get bad mobo's too especially from ecs. do u have another mobo u could try the new cpu in or another cpu that u could try with this mobo. |

Dude, i did not do such a mistake....................i had only SD or only DDR of one chip at once when i tested(dunno what will happen if i try odd combinations like that, when everything works-at the most the higher speed ram will run at a slower speed)
and i do have my PCCHIPS board, i am too afraid on removing and installing the CPU and heatsink's ......i dunno, i am not quiet sure sure about that process. do u want me to do it, let me know
