| PLEASE HELP, BAREBONE PC not working
currently im on my old computer again because my new computer doesn't load and same thing again, it locks up but this time its at the setup screen like when u start up your computer and the system or maker name is displayed and u have to press a key to go into setup. well since i have a Geforce 4 Mx440se 64mb 4x agp, and i put it in tightly into the agp slot and start the pc it will load on the setup screen but only if it was off for along time. and then the screen/pc locks up. now they said i need to get a
pci card to upgrade bios/agp/ide and it should work when then i got a ATI Radeon 7000 32mb PCI and put that in and took out the agp card, it still locks up, i really need help now, i have everything straight, the amd 1.3ghz processor with 1.4 ghz fan (both socket A) and i put my old stuff in this pc like the hard drive and floppy and other upgrades i bought into that computer. and it won't go to the Windows 2000 screen boot. and it said something about floppy drive failure after i saved and exit, that was only 1 time i been on the pc that long on that pc. i don't get it. do i neeed to take the barebone PC back ????????
specs of new pc:
Soyo k7ada MD
256 DDR Ram Pc2100
Ati Radeon 7000 Pci 32mb
Geforce 4 Mx440se 64mb 4x Agp with tv out.

Check the installation of your HSF on the processor. Ensure that it isn't installed backwards. | |

Like prexaspes says, if the heatsink is 180º out of alignment (backwards), then it won't make good contact with the processor die and the processor will overheat. This will cause the lockups.
Make sure that the step (indented part of the heatsink) on the bottom of the heatsink lines up with the step on the CPU socket (raised part next to the CPU when it's installed).

it looks as its in the right place because the HS has a slight gap at the bottom, so u can have it on the part that has the name like the side with the 3 hooks but with the side that has Socket462 so its in right. anything else. and there is white compound on the fan, and now is on the cpu |
