Morgan Core Compatability???

I have recently purchased a Duron 1.1 GHz (apparently Morgan) CPU. I have found that it apparently does not work with my DFI motherboards: AK74EC and AK75EC. The only other board I have to try it on is an MSI K7T, but it only supports up to the 950 Duron. (It also supports up to the 1.4GHz Athlon...) Anyone know what boards work best with these oddball hummers?

If morgan core isn't the core durons were originally manufactured with, chances are, none will support it.

Your best bet would be the msi board but their page says it only supports 1,2GHz durons.

Usually mb makers list only the fastest currently available processor as supported, some list +future in reference of upcoming processors of the same core.

Maybe a BIOS flashon the MSI???

Oops, I misread that you'd have 1.3GHz when you actually have 1.1GHz.

I'm pretty confident in saying it will work on the msi board, a bios flash might be needed. But be sure to do that before you put in the new processor.

The 1.1GHz duron might work with the dfi boards also if you flash their bios, but about that I wouldn't be so certain.

Thanks for all the tips, guys. I was able to flash the bios on my DFI AK-74 EC and it accepted it. Then I find out that the new MSI board is junk - I tried multiple CPU's, and it has a voice message that says the CPU is damaged or installed wrong, and I took them out of known good systems!!! DOH!!!!!!
