Bad Sound on one DVD drive
My Friend and I put together a computer for a friend of his. It has an Abit NF7 motherboard. It also has a Toshiba DVD Burner in it as well as a LiteOn DVD ROM drive. when playing DVD movies on the Toshiba, the sound is fine but when playing movies on the LiteOn drive, it develops a crackle in the sound. He is on the second LiteOn drive with the same results. Also, he only has both drives connected to the same IDE port with just the ribbon cables. He is not using the audio cables to connect the sound for the drives to the motherboard.
Any Ideas? Updated Chipset drives and bios are installed.
Thank you for the replies and guidance.

Try toggling PIO/DMA for the secondary controller and make sure DMA ends up enabled. Should be UDMA 2 for both. I presume the DVD-ROM is slave? For some reason, slaved drives always end up with more quirks like this (although my DVD is slaved to a CD-RW and runs fine).
