LCD screen question

I recently sent my laptop away to get fixed. When I got it back there is something that looks like a
fingerprint on the LCD screen, but when I try to clean it off it appears to be under the outside covering of the screen. Also, you can't see it when the LCD screen is off and you can't see if if there are bright colors underneath it. Basically it is visible when the screen is on but is showing black. It shows up like a small patch of white speckles. It seems to me that perhaps the polarizer is scratched or has a fingerprint or something? I'm not sure if the LCD screen was replaced when it was serviced or not as it wasn't broken before. I have a feeling it was replaced. Is it possible to to replace the outer polarizer film? Should I even bother? It kind of annoys me but it really isn't that bad.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You could complain to the company that fixed it. Laptop screen can be replaced. Does it look as though it was mishandled?

yea, sounds like it's scratched (unless a large group of pixels are messed up). I don't know of anything you can do about that (except replace it). The "meat" of an LCD module is usually one piece (polarizers, LCD panel, color filter, etc) and there usually isn't a protective covering over it you can replace .

The individual pixels appear to be fine. The white speckle that I see looks more like dust or something inside the LCD. From what I've read it seems like it may be a dented polarizer.

Unfortunately, it was Sony that fixed it and I really don't want to have to ship across the country again and wait 4 weeks for them to fix it again.
