First I just wanted to say that I just built my first computer myself and had fun doing it. No more wasting money on prebuilts, I thought it would be hard building a computer but its not. I was surprised at how easy it was, just follow the instructions! I replaced my mobo, CPU and RAM, bought a new case and kept some of my older computer parts, CD, video card, modem, NIC and put them in the new case. Now that I didn't have the problem with.
I used the old case and the old mobo, CPU and RAM to build my dad a computer, I added a CD, DVD, CDR, hard drive, modem, NIC for him. Now everything does start up and everything works fine, except I noticed that when I boot up it only says Athlon XP for the process but does not have the 1700+ after it and it also states that it is running at 1.1 GHZ. I thought the 1700's ran at 1.4GHZ. I checked my bios settings and the sdram is set to 133MHZ. Is there something else that I am missing? Not sure how I managed to get my new one okay with the CPU speed, but I'm not sure what I didn't do this time. Thanks for your help.
