| My new video card problems
my mobo is p4 m925 series by amptron and it has a 4x video card slot. my new video supports 8x but that doesnt matter. when i put my new video card in and make sure its all in and down all the way and then i plug my monitor into the video card not the on board like it has been plugged into.(i didnt take a video card out and put that in i have been using on-board) at this link right here http://www.newegg.com/app/Showimage....102-271-11.JPG
you can see pics of it. a problem i thought was the problem was on the apg bus connector the tail thing at the end it there and on my mobo it justs sits at the end of the slot but my old gforce 4 mx 420 had one of those and it worked fine. NOW TO THE PROBLEM. when my video card isnt in and i plug the monitor into the on board monitor part my computer loads up and the monitor turns on. when the video card is in the monitors light lights up green for about 2 seconds and then turns orange and stays orange. then with the video card in i plug the monitor into the onboard and its just orange. please help me. thanks |

Did you disable the on-board video? Usually done in Bios, sometimes w/ jumpers. If so, can you try your card in someone else's computer? That'd be my first step since you say you had it seated properly. |

So you say that when you hook the monitor up to the New Card it doesnt come and when you hook it up to the onboard it does that means that your onboard Video isnt disabled. Leave it hooked up to your onboard so you can see then go into bios and disable your onboard video then save setting and exit computer will restart hook up the monitor to your new card and see if that works.

i disabled my on board by going to device manager and then to display adaptors and then to the properties of the card and to disable. i called ati and they said to mess around with the bios if that doesnt work and now when the card isnt in the monitor turns and and says check the manual. i am on the "family" computer which is really bad and i cant stand and i want my computer to get working again. my motherboard is really crappy so just buy a new one? please still help. |

Put the card back in, go into the bios and disable the onboard video. If you have questions about the BIOS, please write it all down and post a detailed quest. telling us what the setting options in the BIOS are. The device manager doesn't have anything to do with the board, the board powers up before windows and it detects two monitors, which isn't good. |

well when i put the card in the monitor light turns green and then goes orange still and in my bios there is nothing that has to do with on board video. the closest thing is on board game port but you can set those to 201h 209h or none and right now its set to 201h and thats under features setup. under plug and play we have plug and play aware o/s and thats set to yes and share memory size and thats set to 32 and it can be changed to 32, 16, 8 or none. primary graphics adapter is set to apg and allocate irq to pci vga is set to yes. under advanced the only thing that would go to video card is agp comp. drivering and thats at auto and agp aperture size and thats 64mb but it can be turned up to 256mb and thats all. please respond. thanks |

Okay, go to the bios and go to advanced settings, there should be some kind of agp option there, this is what I'm getting ofrom the online manual, If yours is the same as the one I'm looking at, it should be on page 30 (or thereabouts)
here's what I'm looking at www.amptron.com/manuals/M925ALUv5.0A/925s50A.pdf
Let me know. |
