| Whoops
I was working on my computer last night, rebuilding it to reseat eveything and all the connections. When I was done, the computer powers up but I see nothing on the screen. There are no beeps either. I tried the video card in a different computer and that works. I don't know if it is either the motherboard or the processor (since I accidently dropped the CPU off the table , there was no visual damage or bent pins but who knows).
Anyways I'm stuck now feeling pretty stupid, without a computer, and with no idea what to do. I have already gotten a RMA from Newegg for the motherboard and I will be calling AMD.
Anything else I can do?
Thanks |

You can get an RMA on the processor too, to be safe you should just send both back.

That's what I have to call AMD about since I've had it for a while. Newegg doesn't do RMAs on processors after the first 30 days. AMD takes over the rest of the 3 year warrenty.
Yeah, it's probably better to send both back just to be sure.
thanks |

Sorry man, that's a huge bummer! I agree w/ Telexen, better safe than sorry! They will RMA it if you purchased the extended 1 year warranty from them won't they? Or did you just forego(sp) that? |

Newegg gives a year warranty on everything but CPUs, they only give 30 day warranties on those though, OEM or Retail...you do get a 3 year warranty from AMD on a retail CPU though.
AMD's going to take about 6 weeks probably to get you a new CPU though, |

I do have another computer to use but it isn't as good as mine and I need this one for college in less than 2 months. |

Did you dump the CMOS and ensure the jumper was in the proper position? Some boards come from the manufacturer with the jumper in the "dump" position.
Pardon, I see now that the machine was working prior to the work you did but you should still try the CMOS reset to be certain. Also, you should put the CPU in another motherboard to see if that's the problem. Could save you 6 weeks of time.

just make sure to check all the pins sometimes with amd's the pins dont look bent but are and indeed if inserting into the sock like that it will fit but not work also check to see if ya graphics card is pushed all the way in apart from that cold boot without processor on and off then install it it again to and if your hearing no beeps at all im guessing the processor isnt dead its a more simple problem then that.
sorry i cant be of anymore help |
