ok im trying to install win 2k on a new system and when i get to the 4th boot disk everything seems ok until it gets to the part where it says starting windows 2000..... it never does anything i let it sit for a few hours to see if it need more time but nothing ever happend. i figured it may have been a bad disk so i got a new one and still nothing. What gives?

Why don`t boot from the CD drive directly? .. then you wont be needing the 4 floppy disks, because win2k`s CD is bootable... |

ive done an installation this way on another system and it worked. so what could be goin on? |

it wont boot from the CD?
Did you attempt to make a backup of the CD, or download it? You'd have to burn it as a bootable cd.
Also, do you have the CD-ROM before the hard drive in your boot order (in the BIOS)? |

i got to looking ant the CDROM drive isnt even showing up in the BIOS this is an FIC AZ11 its obviously getting a signal from it cause it can tell if i got the ribbon upside down or not. what in the world??? |

The red stripe on the ribbon should be closest to the power connector on the drive. There should be a "1" silk screened on the mobo next to the connector. If not, just put the red stripe on the same end as the HDD ribbons. |

yea i know that ive tried it both ways one way it dont show up the other way(wrong way) the green light comes on and it never comes off.... |
