Oh ! Need help with old HP Mobo!

Hey all I decided to practice putting together a comp before my new comp parts arrived and so I took my 1998 Hewlett Packard Intel Inside Celeron Processor.

I took out all the parts and put them all back where they went but the Front Panel Cord that turns the power on/off.. I cant find where to put it! I looked all over every piece of the mobo and every other part and I couldnt find it anywhere!

The entire mobo is assembled but I dont know where to put the On/OFF Cord. I will put pics of everything when I find my damn digi cam but if anyone can help I would be very appreciative.

hmm, guess I never tried to change the title of a thread before. I'd just bite the bullet and notify a mod, who I'm sure can change it. I can definitely understand your frustration and the slip.

Anyway, so you lost the wire or the location where you are supposed to place the wires?

edit: wow! kenkun, that was fast, you guys can moderate my mind now too? when was this thought reading software put out?

do you have reset, hdd indicator light or any of that hooked up? I haven't looked at an old hp, but on the mobos I have worked with there is a cluster of these connections.
have you tried checking it out on hp.com's support site?
There are diagrams of the mobos and details on the connections, such as this one:

http://h20015.www2.hp.com/en/documen...604090#P33_628

shows diagram of mobo and scroll down 2/3 of the page to see diagram of front panel connections. Once you see the cluster on the board though, you'll probably see the connections labeled.

Thumbs up
hpmobo

usually around8-10 pairs of pins in a row...speaker should be in the group...then just keep trying different pairs, or look on mobo with magnifing glass for clue like sw, pwr, etc.

did you check on the board for a cluster like the one shown on the board at the link posted?
Anyway, I believe this is your board then:

http://www.hp.com/cposupport/persona.../bph05160.html

Look in the pic at the bottom of the page and it shows the front panel connections close to the lower left hand corner of the image. If you take a look on the board itself these connections should have some tiny labels around them.
