Angry Due All To Slow Frame Rate

This crap is killing me I swear.. I've got the Geforce 2 card to try and help with the slow frame rate, but it hasn't worked. I've tried Defraging and Scanning the disk and all that **** , but none of it has helped. I can be sure that it's definately not the game. I've played Diablo II for awhile now and I can assure you that it didn't have this much slow frame rate while I was playing it. Can some help me plz? I want to be able to play the game with it playing with 1 frame after 1 frame of slowness. The game is like a slide projector now. what's worse is that it'll get me thinking that it's fine when I first start playing the game, then it'll piss me off by showing me picture slides. Someone help plz. Thanx

I've got the last nvidia update.
I did update the game, but it's only a beta test patch.. Also, the game started doing all this before I downloaded the patch.
OS: Pentium III 500 mhz processor
There's an asus motherboard in it if that helps lol

I doubt that RAM is a problem. Diablo II has very low system requirements. Is your harddrive full?
How many processes are running in the background and have you done a virus scan recently?

    A couple options before,
Simple solution = Buy a new PC./Ditch that MX and get a Ti4200.
...save your game/saves to a separate folder and uninstall and reinstall the game...Did you say you upgraded your card?...if thats the case possibly starting over and reinstalling all latest drivers from Invidia again.
Run Spybot or adaware, virus-scan, regcleaner, cleanup your hard drive and uninstall anything irrelevant.
